Sölvi Helgason

Also known as Sólon Íslandus, lived during a time of strict social rules in Iceland. Defying them, he travelled the country as a self-taught artist, leaving behind a body of work that continues to inspire later generations.

His artworks, often small due to the scarcity of paper, are known for their intricate floral patterns. Using whatever materials he could find, Sölvi created with remarkable ingenuity and persistence.

Our jewellery collection draws inspiration from the work of Icelandic artist and goldsmith Finnur Jónsson, one of the pioneering figures of 20th-century Icelandic art. The pieces reinterpret his original silver designs, first donated to the National Gallery of Iceland, and reproduced by silversmith Óttar Gauti Guðmundsson as contemporary jewellery.
